A titan of the ice cream industry is preparing to scoop its way into the hearts and stomachs of Cumberland County residents. Cold Stone Creamery is bringing its sweet treats to Hampden Township later this year, reports local media outlet Penn Live.

Franchisees Umash Chellappa and Subu Sathianarayanan will be opening the beloved dessert institution at 6042 Carlisle Pike this spring. Cold Stone, which will be a part of a newly erected shopping center, is projecting an April opening.

Co-owner Chellappa confirmed the new location with What Now Philadelphia, expressing enthusiasm and optimism about his sweet new venture. He states: “We expect a great success as everyone screams for ice cream, no matter the age or weather.“

Cold Stone Creamery made its auspicious entry into the ice cream world in Arizona in 1988. The concept immediately earned an ardent fan-following, thanks to its unique approach to the beloved treat; Cold Stone invites visitors to select a flavor of ice cream and a selection of add-ins, which are mixed through on a frozen granite slab-thus the name. This unusual and delicious method has made the chain a global favorite, with 1,400 storefronts worldwide.
