Dottie’s Donuts is expanding its footprint with a take-away-only spot in Wissahickon.
The Philly-born vegan doughnut shop is expected to open in a few weeks, at 5105 Rochelle Ave., Landlord Andrew Menyo tells What Now Philadelphia.
“We’re happy to have a community-engaged tenant that’s appreciated by the neighborhood,” Menyo said.
Opening in a brand new building, Dottie’s Donuts will bring in its desserts from its commissary kitchen, rather than making any doughnuts on site, according to Menyo. Plans also call for to-go coffee options out of the satellite storefront.
Dottie’s Donuts last week celebrated its eighth year in business, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“Happy birthday to us! Dottie’s is 8 years old today and we couldn’t be more stoked to still be here slingin’ donuts for you in Philly,” the post states. In celebration of its birthday, the bakery made half-baked birthday cake doughnuts.
Ahead of getting into the retail business, Dottie’s got its start in 2014 as a wholesale business, mostly selling to many of Philly’s coffee shops and restaurants. Co-Founders Jeff Poleon and Matt Quinn met during their stints at vegan eatery Blackbird Pizzeria.
