A new Korean fried chicken spot is gearing up to open in West Reading this summer.

Drunken Chicken, owned by Alex Alfaro and Uyen Nguyen, will open at 36 N. 6th Ave., taking over the former West Brew Izakaya space, according to a Facebook post.

Alfaro and Nguyen are no strangers to the restaurant industry or the 6th Avenue space. In addition to West Brew Izakaya, they also own Winnie Tea Bar and Winnie Mochi. Drunken Chicken will mark their fourth concept.

West Brew Izakaya relocated within West Reading and held a soft opening at its new space, 424 Penn Ave., in September 2025.

Drunken Chicken’s official menu has not been released, but customers can expect a lineup centered on chicken. In a recent post, the owners teased: “Are you ready for the crispiest, most flavorful Korean fried chicken in town?”

West Brew Izakaya currently serves karaage chicken and wings tossed in sweet and spicy chili with scallions–a possible preview of what is to come at Drunken Chicken. The new spot also plans to pour brews from West Brew.
