Owner Ekremah Yaghnam operates several ice cream trucks across Philadelphia, drawing excited crowds of children whenever the familiar music rolls through the streets.
While those trucks will remain a staple, Yaghnam aims to extend the same joy year-round with the opening of his first brick-and-mortar ice cream shop.
Pali’s Ice Cream Company will open at 7302 Rising Sun Ave., the former home of Richmond’s Ice Cream. When the space became available, Yaghnam told What Now Philadelphia he chose it for its prime placement at “one of the area’s busiest intersections.”
The renovated space will feature a pink and turquoise interior, with both indoor and outdoor seating where guests can enjoy a sweet treat.
Dubbed the “home of the Pali Swirl,” the shop will serve as a one-stop destination for ice cream, customizable milkshakes and desserts.
The menu will feature nine soft-serve flavors, including classics like chocolate and vanilla, along with strawberry, bubble gum, orange cream, salted caramel, blueberry, cherry and pistachio. It will also include 18 hand-dipped flavors, such as mint chocolate chip, moose tracks, cookies and cream, peanut butter cup, brownie fudge, birthday cake and caramel espresso, among others.
For those looking for alternatives, Pali’s will offer water ice and popsicles, along with heartier desserts like funnel cake, deep-fried Oreos and cheesecake.
Yaghnam looks forward to becoming a neighborhood staple.
“I’m excited about opening and having the community, friends and family come over and have a nice time. This is definitely somewhere where it’s going to bring people together, that’s what it’s all about,” he said.
Pali’s Ice Cream Company is targeting a late May opening. On opening day, Yaghnam plans to give out free water ice. Follow along on Instagram for the latest updates.
