A brand-new brewery is preparing to bring out of this world sips to Philadelphia. Space Cadet Brewing Co., the passion project of Richie Tevlin, is launching its first beer and making plans for a taproom, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Tevlin has not yet selected a location for the brewery’s first taproom. However, he is considering active Philly communities including Fishtown, West Philadelphia, and South Philly. Tevlin’s primary and essential concern in selecting a neighborhood is that it remain firmly ensconced within the City of Brotherly Love. He explains: “My brand’s Philly. I’m Philly. I don’t think that I need to be specific to any sort of neighborhood. I’m keeping my mind open. Whatever opportunity makes most sense in Philadelphia, that’s where I’m going.”

Tevlin is bringing considerable experience to his first solo outing; he has been the head brewer at Victory Brewing Co.’s Center City location as well the Philadelphia Brewing Co. He has also worked in production at Flying Dog Brewery.

Tevlin is channeling these years of experience into Space Cadet’s inaugural offering, a pale ale called Splashtronaut. For now, the beer will be produced in Workhorse Brewing Co.’s King of Prussia location.
