With a mission to connect more people to real food, Sweetgreen is opening its fifth location in Philadelphia on Frankford Ave in Fishtown on Tuesday, January 21. The restaurant is reimagining fast food for a new era, working with local farmers and partners to provide the freshest and highest quality ingredients for their customers.
“Fishtown is a natural fit for Sweetgreen, with the neighborhood’s shared passion for fresh, delicious food,” said Jonathan Neman, Co-founder and CEO of Sweetgreen in a statement. “We’re excited to open our doors and join a community that not only values connection through food, but also champions the farmers and growers who make it possible.”
Since opening its doors in DC in 2007, Sweetgreen has redefined the meaning of fresh dining, building its menu around sustainably sourced ingredients and vibrant produce. From the hearty Harvest Bowl to the Crispy Rice Bowl, Sweetgreen’s offerings combine flavors with nourishing simplicity. For those seeking a protein-packed punch, dishes like the Miso Glazed Salmon and Caramelized Garlic Steak deliver an elevated take on fast-casual dining. Every item is specifically chosen to reflect Sweetgreen’s commitment to raw, low impact and clean ingredients. Sweetgreen is proud to support local farmers in the area, including Lancaster Farm Fresh, Beechwood Orchards, Mother Earth Mushrooms, Furmanos and Fresh Tofu.
With a deep commitment to the communities it serves, Sweetgreen is proud to partner with Philabundance for opening day. For every meal purchased on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to the organization to nourish people and individuals experiencing food insecurity in the community. Philabundance was founded in 1984 with a mission to drive hunger from our communities today and to end hunger for good. To do this, they work with over 350 community partners to distribute food throughout nine counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey and are a proud member of the Feeding America network. In addition to food distribution, they work to reduce food waste, increase access to nutritious meals, and tackle the root causes of hunger through programs such as the Philabundance Community Kitchen.
To celebrate the Fishtown opening, Sweetgreen is throwing a kick-off party on Tuesday, January 21st from 10am – 2pm. The community is invited to join for a day of fun and giveaways including products from TWEE, exclusive Sweetgreen stickers by Amberella, embroidery by The Crafty One, La Colombe draft lattes and more, while supplies last.
The Fishtown space will accommodate up to 24 diners inside and 30 diners on the restaurant’s patio. For pick-up or delivery options, customers can visit order.sweetgreen.com, or download the Sweetgreen app. Located at 1359 Frankford Avenue, STE 2, Philadelphia, PA 19125, Sweetgreen Fishtown will be open daily from 9:30 AM to 10 PM.
