U90 Soccer Center will debut in Philly on the rooftop of the Bok Building at 1901 S 9th St Philadelphia, PA 19148 sometime in the fall, according to Executive Director Zac Rubin.
Based in Queens, U90 Soccer Center’s sports complex comes equipped with turf fields, a private party room, a cafe, and “the largest soccer retail store in Queens.” The athletic-centric venue’s cafe serves up “delicious Devocion coffee and fresh pastries from Colson Patisserie,” while the field itself acts as host to pick-up games, birthday parties, and even toddler open play.
U90 Soccer will take over nearly 17,000 square feet of space, creating a rooftop soccer field, an indoor soccer field where the girls’ gymnasium once resided, a “retail shop operated by sporting goods chain Soccer Post,” and a lounge where, as Rubin told What Now Philly, he hopes guests will come to satiate all of their soccer needs.
What’s more, Rubin divulged that choosing Bok Building was an easy choice as there’s not only a need for a facility such as U90 in the city but the available food and beverage selection within Bok will couple nicely with the incoming sporting facility.
Some tenants in the Bok Building — which currently houses over 175 businesses — include Two Persons Coffee, Miles Table Catering, Forever Valentino Tattoo, Bandit (vegan cheesemaker), and Bok Bar — “a relaxed rooftop beer terrace on the 8th floor of Bok with unparalleled views of the Philadelphia skyline.”
Just as with the facility in Queens, Rubin hopes U90 Soccer in Philly provides recreational space to the neighborhood and a place for soccer fans to saturate themselves in the sport.
Rubin told What Now Philly while they’re working on membership details, U90 Soccer Center is also working to make the space accessible to all.
