Cafe Zupas, the fast casual restaurant that serves healthful meals, is planning a Chandler location.

The restaurant filed plans with the City of Chandler to begin work on the former Kneaders Bakery and Cafe on 1090 W Queen Creek Road. According to the application, Cafe Zupas intends to do significant work on the site including replacing the windows, replace the awnings, and add a second lane to the existing drive-thru. At this time, an opening date has not been announced.

In 2004, Dustin Schulthies and Rob Seely opened the first Cafe Zupas in an effort to offer fresh, made-from-scratch food. The friends incorporated technology to streamline operations, and fresh ingredients for their menu items. That combination proved to be a winning one and Cafe Zupas now has more than 80 locations and growing across eight states, including Arizona.

The menu caters to people who want healthful items but don’t want to sacrifice convenience or flavor. Favorite offerings include scratch-made soups like soulful chicken noodle and creamy lobster bisque, power bowls filled with veggies and protein, sandwiches, and salads. There are also mocktails, hot chocolates, and desserts like the indulgent Dubai Chocolate Strawberry cup. Cafe Zupas also offers group trays of soups, sandwiches, and salads for family gatherings and corporate functions.
