Chim Chim Thai is planned for 13802 N Scottsdale Rd #130, according to Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control records. Ownership and management are listed under Kin Wah Lum and Chim Chim Group LLC.
While an opening timeline has not yet been announced, public filings provide an early look at what the concept may offer.
The name itself may provide the clearest clue. In Thai, the word “chim” translates to “to taste” or “to try.”
Repeated as “chim chim,” the phrase takes on a more playful and conversational meaning, often used as an invitation to share food or sample dishes together, loosely translating to something like “come and try” or “let’s taste together.”
That interpretation suggests a concept centered around communal dining and approachable Thai flavors, though the ownership team has not yet publicly shared menu details or a formal description of the restaurant.
Site plans submitted with the application show a full-service restaurant layout with a main dining room, kitchen, beverage and register counter, prep and storage areas, a walk-in cooler and dedicated alcohol storage.
The design also includes a contiguous outdoor patio measuring roughly 16 by 24 feet, providing additional outdoor seating.
What Now Phoenix reached out to Kin Wah Lum but had not received a response by publication time. This story may be updated as additional details become available.
