Terry Black’s BBQ plans to enter Arizona with a restaurant at 3925 N. Brown Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale, according to an announcement from LevRose Commercial Real Estate.
The brand purchased the property for $11.2 million. The approximately 0.74-acre site spans nine parcels and an entire city block, with about 10,409 square feet of existing buildings. An opening timeline and details about the restaurant’s design have not been announced.
Twin brothers Michael and Mark Black, along with their sister, Christina, opened the first Terry Black’s Barbecue in Austin in 2014. They named the restaurant after their father, Terry Black, who taught them barbecue traditions while they grew up in Lockhart, Texas.
The siblings also founded Black Family Hospitality, whose businesses now extend beyond barbecue to seafood, sushi, wine, and entertainment.
Terry Black’s has expanded across Texas, with restaurants in Austin, Dallas, Lockhart, Waco, Fort Worth, Houston, and New Braunfels. Additional locations are planned for San Antonio and Nashville.
The brand specializes in Central Texas-style barbecue. Its Austin menu offers smoked meats by the pound, sandwiches, and family meals, with sides such as mac and cheese, beans, and potato salad. Desserts include banana pudding and peach cobbler. A menu for the Scottsdale restaurant has not been released.
