Owners of the new shopping area are not done with building up Salem’s downtown.
A new concept called Cellar 54 was recently added to the list of businesses coming to The Forge at 285 Liberty Street NE. This will be an event venue with a stage, an inside bar and a speakeasy. According to staff of Cellar 54, the new spot is set to open in January.
Owner Nat Borchers is in charge of bringing the new venue to Salem. He has also helped open Clink, a French and American restaurant and Dreamies Creamery, both inside The Forge. A project called Aloe Restorative Lounge is also planned for the multi-level space.
According to an article from Salem Reporter, the speakeasy will be called Founders Room. A menu has not been released, but it is set to be a private lounge themed to the Prohibition era. It is currently under construction.
“Whether it’s a private gathering, live performance, or a night meant to linger in memory, Cellar 54 sets the stage for moments that belong entirely to you,” says the description on their website.
The building is at the corner of Liberty Street and Chemeketa Street NE. Clink and Dreamies Creamery are directly next to each other on the first floor, and Cellar 54 will be below. Right across the street is the Salem Center shopping mall.
