There is no shortage of coffee carts in Oregon, and Cafe Chula will soon be added to the list.
Xochil Valdovinos and her husband are opening a local coffee cart called Cafe Chula in Salem. This will be the owners’ first coffee shop venture, showcasing their Guatemalan and Mexican cultures. An address has not yet been revealed, and it is set to open around the first or second week of December.
A menu will debut soon, but Valdovanos and her husband are paying homage to their Guatemalan roots. They want to make a space that delivers Central American coffee flavors and reminds them of home.
“Growing up in the mountains of Guatemala, she was surrounded by family, love and the smell of freshly roasted coffee,” said the recent Instagram post.
Originally, the two were going to open by Black Friday, but Valdovinos said that due to permitting it is looking more like early-to-mid-December. In another social media post, the inside was showcased which features a full kitchen, so pastries or sandwiches will likely be served.
Right now, the cart is set up in a parking lot and will soon debut to the community. Valdovinos said she will release more information on the opening in the coming weeks.
