According to a recent permit filing, Floyd’s Coffee House and Wine Bar will open in Ladd’s Addition at 1996 SE Ladd Ave.
A representative of Floyd’s Coffee House and Wine Bar was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, Floyd’s originally opened its doors in 2004 on SE Morrison. The business thrived, and the duo behind the shop, Cris and Jack, soon found themselves planning the launch of a second and third shop, all before their ten-year anniversary.
However, as fate would have it, the landscape shifted with the demolition of the Lotus Building, making way for a new hotel. This change forced them to take a step back, saying goodbye to two of their cherished shops that had been serving the residents of Old Town and inner Southeast Portland.
One of the cornerstones of Cris and Jack’s vision was to champion local products wherever possible. Their commitment to this ethos extended from delectable baked goods to carefully selected coffee beans. Notably, they took pride in serving Stumptown Coffee, a brand roasted just down the street. This commitment to local flavors and community building was at the heart of their enterprise.
The coffee shop is described as a place with a firm belief that coffee plays a vital role in nurturing a sense of community. The establishment takes pride in being more than just a coffee shop; it’s a living room for the neighborhoods it serves. Here, conversations flow freely, friendships blossom, and connections are made, according to the company website.
