Foxchase Tavern is planned for 3000 NE Killingsworth St. in Portland, according to a recent liquor license filing tied to Erik Mahan, who already operates Tinker Tavern in Montavilla and has previously run Bantam Tavern on NW 21st Avenue. The filing lists a full on-premises license, with the business planning to operate from noon to midnight daily once it opens, though no specific opening date has been set.

The application shows seating for 50 guests indoors and another 12 outside, putting the new spot roughly in line with the scale of Mahan’s existing Montavilla bar. No live music, karaoke or other entertainment is listed in the filing, suggesting a food-and-drink-focused format similar to his other locations rather than a venue built around nightlife.

Mahan has built a reputation in Portland’s bar scene for leaning into neighborhood character rather than flashy design, previously describing his goal as creating a “comfortable space” for regulars rather than something meant to challenge customers. That approach has carried through at Tinker Tavern, known for its Buffalo-style bar food and a carefully chosen beer lineup, since it opened in Montavilla in December 2020. Adding a third location would extend Mahan’s footprint into another corner of Northeast Portland, an area that has seen steady turnover in small bars and taverns over the past few years.
