Hawaiian Bros Island Grill is moving forward with constructing a new location in Newberg.

It was recently reported by Newsberg that the chain is bringing a new restaurant to the former Round Table Pizza location at 2512 Portland Road. Following the closure of Round Table, Hawaiian Bros has been looking into the space through franchise group JCK Ohana LLC.

The company has been around since 2018 and has a menu inspired by 1950s plate lunches at roadside stands across Hawaii. The chain is known for their Hawaiian chicken dishes like huli huli chicken and molokai chicken. They also sells wraps, salads, soft serve ice cream and bowls of fruit and vegetables.

Hawaiian Bros currently has 66 locations in 10 states across the U.S. Their most recent location opened in Portland is at 1125 SE Grand Avenue, Suite 21. Now, the company plans on opening around five more locations in the Pacific Northwest.

According to the Newsburg article, Hawaiian Bros plans to construct a 3,100-square-foot restaurant with both dining in and drive-thru service. The company purchased the property in February. There is not yet a timeline for opening.

What Now Portland has reached out to the franchisee, and this article may be updated.

  • It is about time that Newberg will finally get something COMPLETELY NEW to include a NEW Bldg versus that OLD UGLY MONSTER that is there now. Newberg has nothing but old crapy establishments that are very unattractive right now. Just maybe a handful that are, worthwhile visiting. Now we need a good great Coffee House with GREAT QUALITY FOOD and SERVICE in a NEW FRESH MODERN SPACE….!! Thanks to that Hawaiian group for, having considered in opening up this place. Looking forwards!!!
