According to an article from Portland Business Journal, Irrelevant Beer will soon debut a taproom off of Main Street in Vancouver.

A representative of Irrelevant Beer was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.

According to the article, they are hoping to be able to open in the summer. The build-out will be a 1,800-square-foot tap room.

“For Vancouver’s Relevant Coffee, a pandemic-era pivot turned into a completely new business venture. Since September a sister company, Irrelevant Beer, has been pouring IPAs and lagers in part of a production space that was first intended just for making cold-brewed coffee.”

“Mitch Montgomery founded Relevant Coffee in 2014 and moved the cafe and roastery into spacious new digs just before COVID-19 struck. A retail cold-brewed coffee operation seemed like a good solution.”

“At the same time, Sebastian Lynch had departed Trap Door Brewing, where he had worked his way up from assistant brewer to lead brewer. The skill sets for making beer and cold-brewing coffee overlap, and Montgomery brought on Lynch to help.”

“By the spring of 2023, they were actively looking for leasable space to create a proper brewpub, when another tenant in their building, a spa and wellness center, departed. They acted as their general contractor for the build-out of the brewery itself, and are now working with a general contractor for the pub. They have local pop-up Goon Burger on hand to run the kitchen when it opens.”

“The part that hasn’t gone smoothly is permitting. They are waiting for a go-ahead from the fire marshal to finish work on the space, but hope to be able to open this summer.”
