The well-known winery estate in Dundee Hills is getting a major upgrade with a multi-level tasting room experience.
LucidWild Estate recently announced they are unveiling their SkyTerraces and WineCaves concept this summer. This will be a 15,000-square-foot space with a wine tasting room upstairs and a game room and speakeasy on the downstairs level.
Founders Blair Nicholas and his wife L.J. have been working on this concept for about four years. They had a dream of creating a tasting experience that overlooks the Dundee Hills just outside of Portland.
“The scenery is absolutely breathtaking,” Blair told What Now Portland.
The estate started out in 2020 when Blair and L.J found the 32-acre estate in Dundee Hills after looking for the perfect spot for a winery. They wanted a palace to “reflect the Burgundian style of pinot noir and chardonnay wines from Burgundy, France,” from their website. Following this, they became growing their vines and planting the seed for the estate.
The upstairs is primarily for wine tasting, and there will also be music playing and a full professional kitchen which will serve small bites. The downstairs area will be home to a speakeasy with a fish tank, a barrel room as well as a game room with pool tables, shuffleboards, ping pong and bocce ball.
The winery also wants to put an emphasis on biodiversity at the space. They will have Valais Blacknose sheep, rams, lambs and other animals traversing the winery. There will be golf carts to take guests down to the barns where they are kept.
According to Blair, they are aiming to open the new building by the third or fourth week of July, but there’s a chance it could be pushed into early August.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun,” Blair said.
