Mosaic Taphouse is set to open its doors at 7955 N Lombard St in the St Johns area, confirmed by one of the owners, Jarek Oliver.
“We are shooting for sometime mid-September to be able to officially open,” Oliver told What Now Portland, “Mosaic promises to offer a vibrant blend of craft beer, Vietnamese cuisine, and a strong sense of community. While some factors beyond our control may influence the timeline, we are determined to create a welcoming space where people from diverse backgrounds can come together and celebrate shared experiences.”
Mosaic Taphouse aims to delight beer enthusiasts with its meticulously curated selection of 24 taps. Out of these, 18 taps will feature the finest beers carefully chosen to please even the most discerning palates. Additionally, patrons can enjoy the unique experience of sake on tap from SakeOne, cold brew coffee from Kalesa Coffee, and a variety of seltzer/kombucha options. For those who prefer bottles and cans, Mosaic Taphouse will offer a diverse range of choices, including wine.
Nestled within Mosaic Taphouse is Chem Gio. Created by the chef and owner, Anh. Drawing inspiration from Vietnamese and Vietnamese fusion cuisine, Anh, previously of Yen Ha, promises to captivate diners with his culinary creations.
“Laurence and I being husbands, and him being Filipino (as well as Anh being Vietnamese), we plan to emphasize our connections with the queer and SE Asian communities. For the queer community, we plan to host drag events, Ru Paul’s Drag Race viewing parties, and just generally be a space they feel at home,” Jarek added.
“We also plan to be forward about being owned by two husbands and plan to discuss what that means to us on our social media and in news articles. For the Filipino community, there is a beer called San Miguel which is extremely popular in the Philippines and very hard to find in the Portland Metro area; we plan to have that beer available at all times in our taphouse.”
