A new brewery called Spotlight Brewing will be going in the space of the former Pono Brew Labs.
Chad Rennaker with Generation Partners which is managing the new brewery said this new location will be inside a food hall at 1740 NE 40th Avenue. Pono Brew labs used to be in the same location, and this new brewery will be taking advantage of the food hall.
Rennaker’s team was also behind Ascendant Beer Company which was at 412 NW 5th Avenue in the city. This beer spot had small batch ales, lagers, food, coffee and hosted private events. The brewery posted in April 2020 that they would be closing the Old Town brewery.
“This is a difficult period for all of us, but we are all in this together,” said the Instagram post.
Pono Brew labs used to be in the same location, and this new brewery will be taking advantage of the food hall. it will have live music, according to the liquor license, along with outdoor dining. There is no timeline of opening as of yet, but the owners are “shooting for October.”
Rennaker did not say what specific beers will be on tap. They may be brewing menu items from Ascendent Beer Company. There has been no official announcement for the brewery yet, as well as the new restaurants inside.
