While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, at the core of Oak Flat Vineyards’ philosophy is a deep appreciation for the classic Rhone varietals – Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah.

Oak Flat Vineyards has a meticulous approach to aging; all of their red wines undergo a minimum of 18 months of maturation in oak-neutral barrels before they are deemed ready for bottling. Beyond their red wines, Oak Flat also takes pride in crafting seasonal options, including rosé and Grenache Blanc white wines.

The vineyard’s location is described to be at the base of an imposing 11,000-foot volcanic mountain, lending it a distinct advantage. The soils, a mix of ancient volcanic sediments and deposits from the Missoula floods, are stated to offer a rich and fertile foundation for the vines. This unique blend of soils, combined with the hot Mediterranean climate of the region, creates an ideal environment for cultivating Rhone-style wines.

The silt-rich soils provide essential nutrients and drainage, while the warm climate ensures that grapes ripen, described as being able to capture the vibrant flavors that define Rhone varietals.

According to Loop Net, the building spans 6,500 square feet, with 5 spaces overall, and was built originally in 1924. The space is described as boasting excellent natural light, high ceilings, concrete floors, and a roll-up door.
