According to a recent article from Oregon Live, Stone’s Throw will be taking over the former home to Clyde Common Space at 1014 SW Harvey Milk St.

A representative of Stone’s Throw was not able to provide additional commentary or information at What Now Portland’s request at this time.

While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, Oregon Live’s article states that they plan to open their doors sometime in early 2024.

Stone’s Throw will be an all-day cafe, with Chef John Bissell at its helm, with a culinary journey that has taken him from the bustling kitchens of Hippo in Los Angeles to the culinary excellence of Oak in Boulder, where he served as the executive chef starting in 2021.

After his successful two-year tenure in Colorado, fate led him to a meeting with Joshua McFadden, co-founder of Submarine Hospitality. In a serendipitous twist, McFadden presented Bissell with an intriguing concept for a restaurant, aptly named Stone’s Throw, which coincidentally shared its moniker with Bissell’s favorite Los Angeles record label.

At Stone’s Throw, Bissell’s passion for exploration and adventure is said to be able to shine through in the menu. The cafe will offer an array of grab-and-go sandwiches, exuding an “international convenience store vibe.” Whether you’re craving roast eggplant with romesco on house-baked focaccia, reminiscent of what you might find at a Roman train station, or Japanese-style conbi sandwiches filled with bay shrimp salad or cucumber, seaweed, and Kewpie mayo, Stone’s Throw aims to have something to tantalize every palate, according to Oregon Live’s article.
