According to a recent permit filing, a new cafe will open its doors soon called Sweet Bacon Cafe in the Northwest District at 1204 NW 21st Avenue.

A representative of Sweet Bacon Cafe was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.

While overall information about Sweet Bacon has yet to be confirmed, according to the permit filing, the planned days of operation are listed as every day from 8 AM to 3 PM. The outdoor operating hours are listed as the same, with food service as well.

Sweet Bacon is filed under Super KJL, LLC on the permit filing. Super KJL, according to Bizapedia, was recently filed for within the last four months. The permit filer and registered agent for both Sweet Bacon and Super KJL is Gary Lalley.

When doing a bit more research, Sweet Bacon’s address was once home to what was Paley’s Place, prior to its closure a few years ago in 2021. Paley’s Place has been described as a renowned restaurant that has played a significant role in shaping the Pacific Northwestern dining scene.

Paley’s closed its doors for the last time after its Thanksgiving service, marking the retirement of its chef and owner. The restaurant’s closure is said to have followed a series of shut-downs within the Paley Hospitality Group over the past two years, according to a Portland Eater article that was written in October of 2021.
