According to a recent permit filing, The Back Patio will open in the Beaumont-Wilshire area, located at 3944 NE Cully Blvd.
“We don’t have a locked-in date as of yet, as it will depend on a few factors such as permits,” co-owner Mike Usselman told What Now Portland, “Our main food option will be food carts set outside the building, with plans inside for things such as unique mocktails and wine with snacks. We will be aiming to provide a relaxing, garden court atmosphere with a back patio.”
From the possibility of hosting solo musicians, and providing a soothing backdrop of vintage LP music to offering recreational options like a foosball table, the venue aims to create a multifaceted space for relaxation and enjoyment, Mike also expressed.
The endeavor is steered by co-owners Mike and Jennifer Usselman, each contributing their unique expertise to the venture. Mike, who also owns the neighboring Appliance City—a three-generation family enterprise—brings a deep-rooted connection to the community. Jennifer, with her background in interior design from Intersect Design, will ensure the venue’s ambiance strikes the right chord.
The building has a historical significance as a long-standing family-owned bar prior to transitioning into a dispensary before its soon-to-be transformation as The Back Patio. Their collective mission is to cultivate a space where the local neighborhood can gather, savor quality moments, and relish a diverse range of seating options.
