According to an article from The Oregonian, Von Ebert Brewing will be taking over the former Ecliptic Brewing’s North Portland location at 825 N Cook St.

“The owner, John Harris, came to us. Initially, we had been working on a production facility in Beaverton but this landed in our laps instead, so we decided to take full advantage of the opportunity.”

“We’re sad to see Ecliptic leave their location, but it was the perfect opportunity. We took possession of the location this year at the beginning of January,” Von Ebert’s director of brewing operations, Eric Ebel, told What Now Portland.

“With this new location, we will be able to have more beer available, as we have been maxed out at other facilities and had to limit distribution, sometimes we even had to limit different beers. Having another centralized location in Portland is and was important to us.”

“We always wanted to have the opportunity to have more of a PNW outdoor vibe, so that will be the theme in terms of aesthetics. We will likely incorporate wood elements, and trees painted on the outside.”

“We’re also looking forward to getting into a spirit barrel-aged program eventually, as we didn’t have the space before. With the new location, we will be able to experiment a bit more. We could potentially try out other new hop products and innovate new products in all of our locations, with our core element of beer being held at this location,” Ebel added.

According to The Oregonian article previously mentioned, “Von Ebert plans to open a taproom at the new location, 825 N. Cook St., but it likely won’t fire up what was Ecliptic’s kitchen. Instead, Sam Pecoraro said the Von Ebert team is looking to reimagine the exterior area into a “really creative outdoor space,” with food carts, a small dog park, and a permanent structure all being considered.”

“We certainly want to make it — I’ll call it the Von Ebert way. Make it feel like ours,” Pecoraro said. He added that Eric Ebel, director of brewing operations, expects to begin brewing in the new facility on Thursday, and the taproom is expected to open in the spring or summer.”
