A Business Journal article mentioned that a new sports bar and music venue is filling the former space of Chando’s Cantina at 805 15th St near Downtown Sacramento. Incoming operators Jorge and Laura Gonzalez told What Now Sacramento that the new business will be called Capricho and is currently in the permitting stage as the space requires some major renovations.
The Gonzalez also operates a live music venue and nightclub in Sunnyvale called Evolution. The nightclub tradition will be continued at Capricho on select nights of the week, whereas operating as a bar and restaurant throughout the day. While the Business Journal mentioned the new bar and venue is anticipated in spring 2025, the owners told What Now Sacramento that they cannot provide an opening timeframe yet due to potential delays in the permitting stage.
The owners did not disclose any further details, including hours of operations and menu structure, over the phone but mentioned that a new website and social media handles are currently under development and will soon become available for those interested in receiving the latest updates on the project’s progress.
Chando’s Cantina, the previous tenant of the 7,816-square-foot building, closed last summer. Having seen great success upon opening in 2017, the owners renovated the space to include an event center used for overflow seating and private events.
