A new fast-casual concept blending Mexican staples with Asian-inspired flavors is headed to Elk Grove.

According to a recent announcement from Laguna Gateway, SAVI Mexican Grill is preparing to open at 8234 Laguna Blvd, Suite 140, taking over a space at the shopping center that was most recently occupied by Earl of Sandwich (and before that, Subway).

The restaurant will be led by brothers Alan and CP Pham, the former operators of the Elk Grove Earl of Sandwich location. The duo also owns Poke Fix in Natomas, which was named CBS Sacramento’s top poke spot in 2020.

The Phams told What Now Sacramento that SAVI Mexican Grill will specialize in customizable burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, and nachos, alongside signature tacos and specialty burritos made to order.

The Laguna Gateway team describes SAVI as a convenient lunch and dinner destination featuring taqueria-style meats, freshly made tortillas, signature tacos and quesadillas, and house drizzle sauces.

While largely focused on Mexican cuisine, the owners said that the concept will also pull inspiration from Asian flavors and ingredients, setting it apart from more traditional taqueria-style restaurants. “It won’t be purely Mexican flavor,” they explained. “We will incorporate Asian flavors as well.”

Although the full menu is still being finalized, they plan to introduce rotating seasonal items and additional specialty dishes later this year.

SAVI is currently targeting a late June or early July 2026 debut. More details, including a soft opening announcement, are expected to be shared sometime in June.

Once open, SAVI Mexican Grill will join a slew of existing Laguna Gateway eateries, including Sana’a Cafe, Mr. Cane Sugarcane Juicery & Açaí Bar, Cattlemens Steakhouse, and Interlude Kitchen & Bar.
