A new upscale dining concept is on its way to Truckee, bringing with it an ambitious culinary vision.
Matices is set to open at 10164 Donner Pass Rd, Suites 2 & 3, taking over the former home of COMO Mexican Restaurant. While the full concept is still under wraps, the eatery’s online presence teases “an exploration of essence and flavor.”
The restaurant appears to be built around what the team calls a “one ingredient-led philosophy” paired with “two unique experiences.” The “social side” of the concept is slated to open soon, while the formal dining room is expected to follow later this spring.
Menu details remain largely elusive, but early social media posts hint at a “seasonal, ingredient-driven” approach that blends Latin, French, and Japanese influences—described as operating “at the intersection of culinary precision.”
Shared imagery showcases meticulously plated dishes, including refined seafood preparations, alongside cocktails and desserts designed with equal attention to detail.
In an origin statement shared to Instagram, the team emphasized their sourcing ethos and community focus: “We work with farmers and producers who share our care for quality and honesty,” the post reads. “Guided by a deep love for Truckee and giving back to our community, we created a space that welcomes guests, who through thoughtful cuisine and warm conversations, leave as friends.”
A recent job posting for line and prep cooks further reveals the kitchen’s direction, describing a leadership team with “world-class experience” and a focus on seasonal cuisine. The listing also notes plans for a dry age program, raw bar, and a menu shaped by Spanish, French, and Japanese techniques.
A representative for Matices told What Now Sacramento that the team is currently hoping to welcome guests before the end of May 2026, though additional details have yet to be shared.
