Philz Coffee is planning a new cafe in Rocklin, at the Whitney Ranch shopping center at 1051 Whitney Ranch Pkwy. The Bay Area coffee brand is listed as an upcoming tenant in the center’s leasing materials, but no opening date has been announced.

The cafe is planned for a 2,010-square-foot space next to Jetset Pilates. If it moves forward, it would be Philz’s fifth location in the Sacramento region, joining existing cafes in Midtown and Land Park in Sacramento, as well as in Elk Grove and Davis.

Philz is known for its custom pour-over coffee, which is made to order for each customer, along with its signature Mint Mojito iced coffee and house blends. The brand has grown to more than 80 locations across California and in Chicago.

The Whitney Ranch center, anchored by Nugget Market, has been filling up with food and service tenants. Eateries include Chipotle Mexican Grill, Jersey Mike’s Subs, NuYo Frozen Yogurt, Acai Fresh and The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, and Jack’s Urban Eats opened there at the end of October. Leasing materials also list Bento Box, a Japanese restaurant chain with locations in Sacramento and Folsom Ranch, for a 4,000-square-foot space next to the UPS Store.

The coffee shop is a welcome addition for the growing area around Whitney Ranch, which is increasingly becoming a spot for quick meals and daily errands.
