Dirty Birds, a locally grown San Diego eatery best known for its extensive chicken wing offerings and casual sports bar vibe, is preparing to open a new location in Oceanside at 1001 N Coast Hwy Ste 1000.

The company’s first franchised location in California will be owned and operated by Fredrick Holloman, according to a recent liquor license application. Holloman tells What Now San Diego that while the new restaurant is still in its early stages, he hopes to open the Oceanside location before the end of the year. Holloman was initially slated to be Dirty Birds’ first-ever franchisee with a planned site at SoFi Stadium, but those plans were shelved due to high costs. Instead, the franchise’s first location opened earlier this year in Texas. The Oceanside site is located near the California Welcome Center and is surrounded by hotels and other businesses, making it a strategic location for the expansion.

Dirty Birds launched in 2008 in Pacific Beach and quickly gained a loyal following for its casual sports bar atmosphere and signature wings. Since then, it has expanded to several company-owned locations across San Diego County, including Liberty Station, College Area (SDSU), and Ocean Beach. The brand has earned local acclaim over the years, winning multiple “Best Wings” awards from San Diego Magazine and other outlets. Its consistent menu and strong community presence have solidified Dirty Birds as a staple in the local dining scene.

Once open, customers at the Oceanside Dirty Birds can expect the same menu that made the original locations popular. Offerings include a wide variety of wings with dozens of sauces, along with burgers, wraps, and salads. The restaurant will also serve a full range of beers and cocktails to complement the menu. The Oceanside location is expected to reflect the same look and feel as the original restaurants, focusing on sports, casual dining, and takeout-friendly options.
