The Shout! House, a live music venue and dueling piano bar, is preparing for an ownership transition in San Diego at 655 4th Avenue.

Longtime Entertainment Manager and piano player Eric Blumenfeld is taking over ownership of the business following more than two decades under CHW Entertainment, according to a statement from the company. The ownership transition will not change the concept, branding, or name of the venue. Customers can expect the same dueling piano performances, audience interaction, comedy, sing-along entertainment, food, drinks, and nightlife experience the venue has become known for in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The Shout! House was founded in 2004 by Kevin Clover, Roger Hunt, and Bob Walin after taking over the former Sing Sing Dueling Pianos location. The venue opened around the same time Petco Park debuted downtown, helping establish the surrounding Gaslamp Quarter as one of San Diego’s primary nightlife districts. Over the years, The Shout! House has become a popular destination for birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, date nights, and group celebrations. The business currently operates Tuesday through Sunday and remains a 21-and-over venue.

The concept centers on live, request-driven performances featuring two pianists performing face-to-face, covering songs from the 1950s to current chart hits. The venue also incorporates comedy, improvisation, and crowd participation into nightly performances. According to the company’s website, every show is different and shaped by audience requests. In addition to live entertainment, The Shout! House offers food service, VIP packages, private event bookings, and reserved seating options.

Blumenfeld has worked at The Shout! House since 2014 and previously performed regularly on stage before stepping into a leadership role with the company. The venue also continued to operate through the challenges facing California entertainment businesses during the pandemic, including periods of indoor shutdowns and shifting operating restrictions. This will be an excellent continuation for the business, considering Blumenfeld’s long history with the venue and familiarity with its entertainment model and customer base.

“The Shout! House is more than a bar, it’s a tradition, a celebration destination, and a place where unforgettable memories are made,” said Blumenfeld in a statement. “I’m honored to carry the torch forward and continue the legacy that CHW Entertainment built over the last two decades.”
