Fanoos Grills is preparing to open its second San Francisco location, bringing its fast-casual Mediterranean concept to North Beach with support from the City of San Francisco’s Storefront Opportunity Grant Program. The restaurant will open at 411 Columbus Avenue, expanding the brand beyond its original location on Sutter Street.

The new restaurant is one of 39 small businesses selected to receive funding through the San Francisco Storefront Opportunity Grant Program, which recently awarded more than $3 million to entrepreneurs opening permanent locations in vacant commercial spaces across San Francisco. The initiative provides grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 to help offset startup costs while revitalizing neighborhood commercial corridors and encouraging long-term investment in the city’s retail districts.

Owned by Adnan Alameri, Fanoos Grills specializes in shawarma and other Mediterranean favorites served in a quick-service format designed for customers seeking fresh, convenient meals. The North Beach restaurant will offer the same grab-and-go concept that has helped establish the brand’s reputation at its first San Francisco location.

“We wanted to expand our concept because we found it successful in our first location,” Alame previously told WhatNow, adding that the company’s long-term vision includes additional Bay Area expansion. He said the business evaluates future markets based on community diversity and local food culture, noting that Berkeley, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Hayward have all emerged as potential growth opportunities.

The North Beach opening represents another step in that strategy while contributing to San Francisco’s broader effort to activate vacant storefronts with locally owned businesses. Food and beverage concepts make up the largest share of this year’s grant recipients, reflecting the city’s continued investment in independent restaurants as drivers of neighborhood revitalization.
