T&T Supermarket is bringing its Asian grocery experience from Canada into California. The retailer will debut in San Jose on June 18 with opening day celebrations. Shoppers can explore thousands of products at the new store.

T&T Supermarket Opens First California Store in San Jose

T&T Supermarket will debut its first California outlet at Westgate Center. The grand opening celebration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the official store opening at 9 a.m. The store at 1600 Saratoga Avenue marks a major step in the retailer’s expansion across the United States.

CEO Tina Lee said the San Jose location has been long anticipated. She added, “We’re bringing more than just exciting, high-quality foods. We’re exporting a new way of life from Canada: one that’s deeply food-centric, celebratory, rich in tradition, and fresh-obsessed.”

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the retailer has announced three Bay Area stores. The San Jose store is the first to open. T&T also announced it will open more locations this winter, in the City Center area of San Francisco and at Friendship Plaza in Millbrae.

The expansion comes amid growing competition in the Bay Area Asian grocery market, as cited in the San Francisco Chronicle. Retailers, including H Mart, Tokyo Central, and Osaka Marketplace, have also expanded their regional presence. The growth reflects rising demand for Asian grocery chains in the region.

About T&T: Canada’s Largest Asian Grocery Chain

Started in Vancouver in 1993, T&T Supermarket operates over 39 stores in Canada and the United States. The company is currently led by CEO Tina Lee, the second-generation successor to founder Cindy Lee.

T&T’s reputation is based on its wide range of Asian food, fresh produce, live seafood, bakery products, and restaurant-style prepared foods.

The company’s official website says that T&T wants to offer customers a shopping experience that is both immersive and authentic, featuring Asian flavors, convenience, and innovation. It has a wide range of food-service counters, hot food, and other imported food items that are hard to find, serving both the Asian community and those who are trying out Asian food for the first time.

The company has been expanding more rapidly in the United States in recent years, opening its first retail store in Bellevue, Washington.

The new store is aimed at helping Asian families feel connected to their food and culture. The store also offers a chance for everyone to explore Asian food.
