Rowan, an ear-piercing studio and jewelry brand specializing in piercings performed by licensed nurses, is getting ready to open a new location in Walnut Creek at 146 Broadway Lane, Space 1120.

The company’s new location is expected to open in the former home of Aveda within Broadway Plaza, according to Beyond the Creek, which first reported the Rowan signage on the building. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the studio will offer Rowan’s ear piercing services and a selection of hypoallergenic jewelry.

Louisa Schneider founded Rowan after researching ear-piercing options for her daughter and finding that existing choices did not meet her expectations. The company was built around combining medical standards with a more celebratory experience. Its piercings are performed exclusively by licensed nurses, and Rowan is backed by a medical advisory board.

The studio offers both needle and device piercing, with the method based on age, placement, and jewelry preference. Needle piercings are available for children ages five and older, while device piercing is available to customers two months and older with a valid DTaP vaccination. Piercing options include lobes, upper lobes, helix, forward helix, flat, conch, and tragus.

Rowan also sells earrings made from premium metals, including 14K gold, 24K gold, sterling silver, titanium, and platinum. Its jewelry collection includes hoops, studs, fine jewelry, essentials, new arrivals, and bestsellers, with piercing jewelry starting at $60 for device piercings and $68 for needle piercings.

The company also provides piercing aftercare products and complimentary evaluations to check how new piercings are healing. Rowan’s studios follow what the company calls the Rowan Clinical Piercing Standard, which includes licensed nurses, hypoallergenic jewelry, and aftercare guidance. The Walnut Creek location will bring the company’s piercing and jewelry services to a new East Bay market.
