After nearly 17 years of service, a small family-owned pizzeria in Seattle, The Independent Pizzeria, is preparing to close permanently. The owners of the pizzeria have decided to retire and hand over the restaurant space to new owners.
The Independent Pizzeria Announces Closure
The Independent Pizzeria is located at 4235 E Madison St. in Seattle’s Madison Park neighborhood. Since opening in 2010, the family-owned pizzeria has served wood-fired pizzas with a range of toppings. The restaurant specializes in wood-fired pizzas with charred crusts and varied toppings.
In a social media post, the restaurant owner shared that after nearly 17 wonderful years of service, The Independent Pizzeria will serve its last slice of pizza on October 16.
Initially, the pizzeria planned to close its doors on October 18, but in a recent post, they announced that they would be closing on Friday, two days earlier. The owner added, “We need a few extra days to pack this lil restaurant up.”
Owners Tom Siegel and Tora B. Hennessey plan to retire, prompting the closure.
With an excited tone, the pizzeria owner added, “In the meantime, we’re working on handing the space to a new owner we’re very excited about. We think they’ll be a beautiful addition to this community, and we’ll share more when it’s final.”
