Gig Harbor Wine Co. plans to move its tasting room to 3202 Harborview Drive in downtown Gig Harbor.
Owners Ben and Robin Egeland told What Now Seattle the team hopes to open before the end of 2026. They are waiting for permits before beginning plumbing improvements and the build-out, and an exact opening date has not been set.
Their wines are made with Washington-grown grapes, and the bottles celebrate local history, with labels referencing places and vessels such as the Roxy Theatre and the Shenandoah fishing boat. They have worked with Washington winemakers, including Aryn Morell of Walla Walla.
The husband-and-wife team opened their current tasting room at 6745 Kimball Drive, Suite E, in March 2024, but they had always wanted to find a place downtown.
“When the opportunity came up at 3202 Harborview Drive, it just felt right. We love the character of the building, the walkability, and the opportunity to be closer to the waterfront and other local businesses,” the couple shared.
They want the tasting room to be a place where customers can get to know one another and return to spend time with friends.
“Our hope is to become a natural stop for people exploring downtown, whether they’re meeting friends for a glass of wine, heading to dinner, or just enjoying an afternoon in the harbor,” they said.
The new tasting room will be smaller than the Kimball Drive space. Plans include a bar, comfortable seating, and a light, modern interior. Dogs will still be welcome.
“While moving into a smaller space might seem like an unconventional way to grow, for us it’s really about finding the right location, strengthening our connection to the community, and creating an even better experience for our guests,” the owners said.
Tasting flights, wine by the glass and bottle, local beer, and small bites will carry over to the new address. The Egelands would like to expand the offerings once they settle in, though those plans have not been finalized.
They also hope to host special events, occasional live music, and wine-focused gatherings, and explore collaborations with other downtown businesses.
“For us, wine has always been about more than what’s in the glass. It’s about the people you’re sharing it with, the memories you’re making, and the conversations that happen along the way,” they said.
