Fresh Monkee, the shake franchise serving up “Truly Healty Shakes” is expanding fast in Florida. With five locations currently open in the state, Fresh Monkee has eight more coming through the pipeline. Fesh Monkee’s first Sarasota location, headed up by franchisee Magda Reyes, is set to soft open June 1.
Fresh Monkee Sarasota will open on Monday at 5045 Fruitville Road, Unit 153, offering 50% off shakes until June 5.
What Now spoke to Reyes on Friday about Fresh Monkee’s rapid growth and about her own journey with the brand.
“It’s a very good product,” Reyes said. “For years, I was looking for something I could be really passionate about. Fresh Monkee’s shakes are truly healthy, they fill you up, and they taste great. It’s spreading like wildfire.”
Fresh Monkee’s shakes are divided by category: there are Fresh & Fruity Shakes like Antioxidant Berry (water, splash of pom juice, splash of orange juice, splash of milk, vanilla protein, spinach, mixed berries); Craveworthy shakes like the Dirty Monkee (milk, chocolate protein, brownie protein bar, Nutella with sugar-free chocolate drizzle); Go Nuts varieties like Reyes’s personal favorite, Chunkee Monkee (milk chocolate or vanilla protein, banana, natural peanut butter with sugar-free chocolate drizzle when ordered with chocolate protein); and more.
Reyes had been searching for a franchise to invest in when she came across the Fresh Monkee brand and was impressed by both the franchise’s product and its founder, Judy Flynn.
“[Flynn’s] story is very similar to mine,” Reyes said. “In corporate finance, a single mom with two kids, a college athlete, busy taking the kids to sports games, with not a lot of time to cook. I saw a great opportunity to offer people more than just shakes. It’s a way to be healthy and to have longevity. I’m all about physical, mental, and spiritual alignment.”
After opening the Fruitville Road location, Reyes is contracted to open two more Fresh Monkee locations in the area. The locations are TBD.
“I see this as a way to give back to community, and to build community, bring together likeminded people,” Reyes says.
