Char BBQ, a barbecue concept that previously operated as a local pop-up, is getting ready to open a new location in Poway at 13513 Poway Rd.

The new restaurant is expected to open in the former home of Tikka Lounge in Creekside Plaza, according to documents recently submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Char BBQ is expected to open within the next two to three months, according to online comments, although an exact opening date has not been announced. The concept is run by owner Patrick Williams, who previously operated Char BBQ as a pop-up at California Keg & Liquor on Garden Road.

The pop-up menu includes several smoked meat options, including slow-smoked tri-tip, pulled pork, and St. Louis ribs. Side dishes listed for the concept include smoky mac and cheese, zesty potato salad, cowboy baked beans, and corn elote.

Creekside Plaza spans approximately 133,914 square feet across 13409 to 13577 Poway Rd. The shopping center is anchored by Stater Bros. Market and AMC Theatres and includes a mix of restaurants, retail businesses, and other services.

More information about the restaurant, including its hours, final menu, and opening date, is expected as the project moves forward.
