A celebrated Virginia pastry chef is helping to ensure summer of 2026 is one of the sweetest yet for Loudoun County. Chef Kathleen Faliskie is inviting locals to beat the heat with a delicious treat at Fleen’s, her first brick and mortar location, which she hopes to have open later next month.
Fleen’s is setting up its ovens at 20937 Ashburn Road Suite 150, where renovations are currently actively underway. Chef Faliskie generously set aside some time to speak with What Now DC about Fleen’s journey-from baking out of rental kitchens, to finding its own home.
Faliskie explains that she did not rush the process, confident that the perfect space was out there. She states: “I have been looking for a retail space for over a year throughout Loudoun County. I knew I would recognize the right space when I found it. When my realtor showed me this space, I stepped in, instantly visualized what it could be for my business and fell in love, I knew this was the one.”
Fleen’s will allow Chef Faliskie to serve a larger client-base while growing a business she has dedicated considerable time and energy to. “My custom orders have been rapidly growing and I reached the maximum capacity for my current operations. I knew opening a brick-and-mortar was the obvious next step to continue growing.” she explains, adding “I have been building my business for about two years now. I have been working out of rental kitchens and carrying equipment and ingredients back and forth was getting exhausting and making more work for myself.”
While visitors hoping to grab a quick sugar-fix on the run will be well served by Fleen’s, future regulars looking for a comfy place to enjoy a sweet treat, don’t worry, Faliskie has you covered. She describes her vision for the space: “There will be seating available as well as grab-and-go to start. I will be opening with limited hours. I want it to be a fun, inviting, creative space to come hang out or just stop in for a pickup.”
The Fleen’s menu will have an option sure to please every sweet tooth. Faliskie sets stomachs rumbling with this sneak-peak at what the bakery will offer: “I will continue to sell custom cakes and dessert bars. For retail items I will be offering baked goods such as brownies, blondies, cake pops, macarons and dessert charcuterie boards.”
Fleen’s does not yet have a definitive opening date for Loudoun diners to circle on their calendars, however the concept’s debut is on the horizon. Faliskie states: “My goal is the end of July! That may be ambitious, but I love a challenge.”
