The DMV’s own South Block is continuing its mission of making healthy eating more delicious, one new storefront at a time. Next up on the growing chain’s agenda? A Gainesville location, opening in the near future.

South Block will be serving up nutritious treats as part of the Promenade Commons shopping center, in a 13945 Promenade Commons Street storefront. Founder and CEO Amir Mostafavi kindly confirmed to What Now DC that while a precise opening date is not yet available, he anticipates the Gainesville location being customer-ready by late summer.

South Block has become a DMV institution and regional favorite since its debut in 2011. The chain has built a loyal fanbase through its delicious bowls, smoothies, juices, and toasts. The eatery is sweetening the deal for future Gainesville regulars by inviting them to sign up for a free Mini Açai Warrior Bowl through the website.

The South Block team is looking forward to introduce a new neighborhood to its signature brand of nourishing and delectable cuisine. Mostafavi offers this statement, certain to stoke excitement among locals: “We are so excited to be opening our 27th South Block location in Gainesville! Our mission is to help make people feel awesome one block at a time. We got our start in Northern Virginia and we are thrilled to be expanding into new communities. There are many exciting things happening in Gainesville, particularly at Virginia Gateway, and we are proud to be a part of it. The feedback we’ve received from the Gainesville community has been incredible. Gainesville, we got you… Acai, smoothies, and good vibes are on the way!”
