Every neighborhood deserves a truly great coffee shop, and Bethesda is about to get one of the DMV’s best. Simona Cafe, which has already earned acclaim in Virginia and DC, is opening its first Maryland location later this year, reports Eater Washington D.C.

The celebrated coffee shop will distinguish itself from other similarly natured concepts by offering beer and wine alongside java drinks and freshly baked treats at its 4520 East-West Highway. The 1,300 square foot space on the ground floor of the Bethesda Office Center building seems destined for percolators and pastries; the storefront previously housed a Starbucks.

Simona Cafe, owned and operated by partners Jad Bouchebel and Tito Peña, is aiming for a June opening-just in time for visitors to enjoy their coffee and snacks on the spacious outdoor patio.

Simona Cafe’s social media post announcing its newest location expresses enthusiasm and anticipation for its Bethesda debut, saying: “We can’t wait to bring our coffee, cozy vibes, and house-made favorites to this amazing community.”

In addition to a delicious selection of drinks-both coffee and otherwise-Simona features a menu that far exceeds the expectations of the run-of-the-mill cafe. The eatery offers sandwiches with a sophisticated edge alongside customizable charcuterie and cheese boards.
