A Del Ray storefront is getting ready to move to a new beat. The Neighborhood Restaurant Group is transforming its Mulberry Lane Cafe into a new-and as of yet unnamed-record store, set to open later this summer, reports local media outlet ALXNow.
Mulberry Lane Cafe will be serving its final customers at 2016 Mount Vernon Avenue on Friday, July 10. The storefront will then be turned into a record store selling new and used records, set to open at some point in August.
Neighborhood Restaurant Group principal Michael Babin explains that the store is bound to enhance the cultural scene of the area, drawing in music enthusiasts. He states: “Obviously we think that having more record stores is a great thing. It makes the whole neighborhood, and certainly those two blocks [of Mount Vernon Avenue] a heck of a destination for anybody who cares about music and vinyl records. It’s fantastic.”
NRG’s upcoming new venture does not yet have a name. What Now DC has reached out to leadership for further details and will update readers as information emerges.
