Pizzeria retrofits
vintage Fire Truck with stone pizza oven and plans for third location

Buckhead’s getting a new pizza joint and food truck like none other.

Blue Moon Pizza will open their third location at Paces 325, a 22-story high-rise located at 325 East Paces Ferry Road, according to a building permit filed with the city of Atlanta Tuesday.

In addition to opening their third location in Buckhead, the pizzeria will roll-out a food truck, according to Blue Moon Pizza’s website.

Dubbed the “Blue Moon Pizza Truck,” the pizza joint has converted a 1961 international harvester fire truck, according to their website, complete with a stone pizza oven, refrigerator and a sink.

Unlike most of Metro Atlanta’s food truck operations, Blue Moon Pizza’s food truck can be booked for full-service catering.

The Atlanta-based, independently owned pizzeria founded in 2003, has locations in Marietta and Vinings.

What Now Atlanta sought comment from Blue Moon Pizza Wednesday, which went unanswered.

  • I thought there were laws against actually preparing food in a mobile kitchen. I thought the food could be sold on trucks but had to be prepared in a health-inspected kitchen. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the law is pretty weird.

  • I’m from NY and I can tell you it’s the best pizza south of NY! The wings and drinks are awesome too! It will stay crowded.
