Silverlake Ramen, the LA-based ramen eatery founded by Chef Tomas Aono and Jitaek Lim, has plans to bring its good vibes and better ramen to San Diego. With 16 locations opening since its inception in 2012, it’s safe to say Silverlake is on the rise. A glance at the eatery’s website indicates ten new locations are in the works, and not just in CA. Utah and Colorado will soon be home to Silverlake Ramen, too.

Fortunately for San Diegans, you won’t have to travel too far to get your ramen-fix. Franchisees Aaron and Grace Kim are opening a branch of the eatery in Mission Valley’s Fashion Valley Mall.

What is Silverlake’s mission, you might ask? To serve up affordable food made with love. The menu offers appetizers, rice bowls, and ramen. You can go classic with the Tonkotsu, or a creamy pork broth, bean sprouts, spinach, green onion, seaweed, black garlic oil, and egg, or you can head for The Garlic Truffle, which incorporates kale, mushrooms, and truffle oil. Kim says The Garlic Truffle is a great option because it isn’t a flavor profile you can find on other ramen menus. The eatery serves up vegetarian options as well.

Kim told What Now San Diego, he hopes for an early July opening; July 3rd if everything goes as planned.
