Magic dinner theater company Mystique Dining is planning two new venues in the San Diego area, coming this Fall. The company currently operates venues in West Jordan, UT and Folsom, CA.
Their two concepts include Mystique Dining, a 5-course gourmet dinner in a formal and intimate setting, followed by 45 minutes of performance by world renowned magicians. The Prestige is their casual dining concept which includes a 3-course meal, and entertainment by the same high-quality magic performers.
For their first trick, Mystique Dining will open at 915 Pearl Street in La Jolla on October 15th. Next, they’ve taken over 827 4th Avenue in the Gaslamp as The Prestige Magic Lounge and Showroom, with performances beginning November 15th. The Downtown location was formerly the Illusions Theatre.
What Now San Diego spoke with Owner Terry Commons, who had been given recommendations to set up in La Jolla by his fellow magic performers. “It’s an ambitious undertaking to open two venues within 30 days of each other but we’re experienced,” Commons says. Terry Commons has been a magician since he was a kid, which lead him to an education in Theater, followed by a career in food service. Since 1997, he’s successfully matched his passion for magic performance with his background in hospitality to grow the Mystique Dining brand.
Beyond their gourmet dinner service at both venues, Commons describes the atmosphere as, “Old-world Cabaret, elegant, baroque, and just wonderful. With the best of the best in American Magicians. You’ve likely seen them at The Magic Castle and on America’s Got Talent. They’re the cream of the crop of performers.”
The schedule is currently open for bookings in La Jolla on the Mystique Dining Website. Bookings will be available soon for The Prestige in the Gaslamp. Follow Mystique Dining La Jolla on Instagram for more information.
