A high end chophouse and cigar lounge is coming to downtown Mansfield by the end of the year.
It was first announced by the city in November 2021 that Meehan’s Chophouse and Henry’s Cigar Lounge would be opening at 101 S Main St in a building that was previously occupied by Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers.
“Historic Downtown Mansfield will soon become the destination for one of the finest dining and entertainment experiences you will be able to find in our wonderful city,” Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans said at the time of the announcement. “Historic Downtown Mansfield is rapidly becoming our city’s primary destination for remarkable experiences, and this development will add to the area’s growing array of attractions.”
According to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the project is moving forward and will likely open by the last quarter of 2022. The restaurant was originally projected to open in the spring. Per the filing, renovation work on the 12,360-square-foot location is set to begin in March and be completed by November. The work will cost an estimated $2,947,000.
The renovated restaurant and new bar is being brought to the city by Mansfield-based Meehan Properties. Tony Meehan, owner of Meehan Properties, is hoping the development will attract other new businesses to Historic Downtown Mansfield, as well as help revitalize the district and provide a dining destination that locals will love.
“Folks in Mansfield shouldn’t have to drive and spend their dollars in Fort Worth or Dallas to have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of fine dining choices and experiences,” Meehan said. “Our new restaurant, along with other quality restaurants already here, will help make Mansfield a first-class dining destination.”
Meehan’s Chophouse will offer premier steak and seafood options, while the separate cigar lounge will provide an upscale kick back spot.
