The Los Angeles planning department has given approvals to plans by Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County for a 122-unit affordable housing project in South Los Angeles, according to a determination letter posted this month by the city.
A nonprofit affordable housing provider, NHS of LA County submitted plans for the project, which is named Manchester Urban Homes, in the last year. Its project will include a four-story, 76-unit apartment complex along West 88th St. and South Broadway, while just west of that it will include eight new residential townhome buildings running from the north side of West 88th St. to the south side of West 87th St., plans show.
Designs for Manchester Urban Homes are being lead by project architect John V. Mutlow Architects and landscape architect KSA Design Studio.
The development will include 39 apartments for extremely low-income households, two for very low-income households, and 78 for low-income households, with three manager’s units. The apartment portion of the project will include an enclosed, grade-level parking garage with 30 vehicular spaces, along with an additional nine spaces in a surface parking lot. The townhome buildings will include 30 parking spaces in covered carports next to each building.
