PizzaVola Express in James Island to Close, Ray’s Pizza Set to Take Its Place

PizzaVola Express will close on September 29, but the space won't stay vacant for long.

A beloved James Island pizzeria will soon close its doors, but a new chapter awaits.

PizzaVola Express recently on Facebook that it will serve its last pie on September 29, 2024.

“To everyone who has walked through our doors, you have been more than customers—you’ve been family,” wrote owner Shannon Gaskill. “The friendships we’ve made and the joy of serving you have been some of our greatest rewards, and me and my family will forever be grateful for the wonderful people we’ve met over the years.”

But the 1041 Folly Rd space won’t stay vacant for long. PizzaVola’s general manager and head chef, Kevin Ray, will open his new restaurant, Ray’s Pizza, in the same spot this October.

“We are thrilled to see him bring his culinary passion to life in this exciting new venture, and we encourage you to visit him at Ray’s Pizza and continue to enjoy the delicious creations he has to offer,” reads the post.

The restaurant invites patrons to stop by, say farewell, and join in the transition over the next couple of weeks. “We deeply appreciate all your support and thank you for being a part of our PizzaVola Express journey.”
