FROSTAiLS is a Korean dessert house coming soon to Gilbert. The new business is a planned tenant for Verde at Cooley Station, where construction is underway at 3975 E. Williams Field Road, according to a building permit found in city public records.
FROSTAiLS will specialize in bingsu (also written as bingsoo), which is a Korean shaved ice dessert served with sweet toppings such as fresh fruit, condensed milk, fruit syrup, and red beans. Owner Albert Suh is excited to introduce the concept to the Gilbert market. He even traveled all the way to Korea to purchase special equipment and had it shipped to Arizona to make this deliciously cool dessert at home.
He adds that in addition to bingsu, the evolving menu will serve Korean teas, as well as snacks like instant ramen and rice cakes exclusive to Korea. Albert also owns and operates Natural Cleaners, an environmentally friendly dry cleaner on the corner of Queen Creek and Gilbert in Chandler.
Since opening his fabricare shop in 2005, Albert has had plenty of success with the locals. He is hopeful customers will be equally receptive to FROSTAiLS, which will be his first venture in the food and beverage sphere. “It’s an industry where you see a lot of support from fellow business owners and customers. I’m excited to make this transition and intend to be very transparent about our development every step of the way,” he says.
Albert has been updating progress for FROSTAiLS on Instagram since 2020, but eventually put that all on hold when developers kept pushing Verde’s completion date further into the future. The first phase of Gilbert’s brand new mixed-use development was originally supposed to open at the end of last year, but as of today construction still remains unfinished. Recently, a Facebook announcement notes plans to premiere the first phase in May.
Meanwhile, Albert has been ready to move into his brand new space for several months, with his bingsu equipment taking up space in his home. Considering Verde’s most recent update, Albert says that he hopes to open FROSTAiLS by this summer — just in time to beat the desert heat with an icy treat.
