A new distillery is in the works for King of Prussia. A company called One Tier has applied for a limited distillery license at 190 Town Center Rd. One Tier Founder and Owner Andrew Auwerda says he expects the production facility, bottle shop, and tasting area to open sometime this summer.

“I love the business and wanted to start a new distillery,” Auwerda told What Now Philadelphia.

Auwerda is the founder and former president of Philadelphia Distillery which was sold to the Kentucky-based company Heaven Hill Distillery, the seventh-largest alcohol supplier in the U.S. They are known for their bourbons, including Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and sell various spirits.

One Tier’s King of Prussia operation will inhabit a 12,000 sq. ft. space with a 1000 sq. ft. space retail store. While this location won’t have a full cocktail bar, there will be a tasting room for customers to come in and try some spirits. The rest of the space will be used for the production of a variety of alcohol types. Auwerda did say he is looking for a satellite location to provide a wider front-of-the-house experience for One Tier customers. As for now, One Tier is in the early stages of planning.
