Mamahuhu, the popular Chinese-American spot that debuted on Clement Street in 2020, is getting ready to open a second location this year. Owners Ben Moore, Anmao Sun, and chef Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s in Chinatown have taken over the former Toast space at 3991 24th St. in Noe Valley

“We are very excited to open our second restaurant in Noe Valley,” Moore tells The Noe Valley Voice, adding that they will open “sometime this fall, hopefully in November, once we get all our permits from the city.” The restaurant will offer counter service and takeout ordering.

Mamahuhu, which is Chinese slang for “so-so,” specializes in Chinese-American fare made with all-organic produce sourced from local farmers. Popular dishes include house specials such as the Sweet & Sour Chicken (crispy rice-battered chicken, pineapple, peppers, honey, hawthorn) or the Mushroom Mapo Tofu (organic shiitake, doubanjiang, fermented chili, Sichuan peppercorn).
